Biography
Born in Peterborough, Ontario in 1968, Robert Boshaw grew up listening to the popular country music and 50's rock and roll that his parents loved. He always loved music and started playing guitar at the age of 14. His first lessons were given to him for free by Rick Fines (The Jackson Delta Trio) and Rob has been spending his life since then returning the favour to his students.
Rob Boshaw attended Humber College in Toronto from 1987-89 and studied with some of Canada's finest jazz musicians. After leaving Humber he continued to study guitar with Peter Harris, Lorne Lofsky and later with pianist Bob Erlendson. Rob returned to Peterborough in 1990 and started a family. He is the father of five children and now has a grandson. While in Peterborough, Rob Boshaw was involved in The Blueshounds, a group that wore several hats and often appeared not only as a polished blues act, but also playing jazz as The Eve Simmons Quartet and backing up singer/songwriter, Cheryl Beatty. Rob moved to Orillia in 1999 to work as a roulette dealer at Casino Rama. After nearly six years of working a straight job, he finally resigned to play and to teach music full-time again. He is currently recording with the recently reformed
Cheryl Beatty Band featuring fellow Blueshounds Chris Chiarelli on drums and Andrew Taylor on bass.
